Sunday walk in Southsea
Today wasn't a lovely day, weather wise. I got up around 9am and decided to go for a run. I went on my normal 10 mile route. When I got home, my wife and I decided to go for a walk. I sent a quick message to my Aunt as she has a new dog and we went into Southsea.
We left my Aunt as we got to Southsea shopping centre, this is because she was going home. It was around 1pm and we had not had any lunch, so we went into Meat and Barrel. I had not idea what to have as I hate having choices to make so I went for a burger and lemonade, It was quite nice really.
We decided not to stay around the shopping area, it gets quite boring seeing the same things and not wanting anything. Onto Southsea common it is then Firstly, as you can see from the first picture, the trees look like the wind has taken hold of then and blown them the other way. The picture doesn't give it justice. In the background, you can see the Portsmouth Naval Memorial. This is the next stop in our walk today.
When I was younger, my grandfather and I used to walk here as my grandparents didn't live to far away. I did try and see if I could spot any people with my last name. I didn't find any. Going to the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, it does bring things into perspective. Without these men, women and children (some that went to war had only been kids themselves), I don't think we would be doing the things we do today. I am proud of both my grandparents and also my great grandfather for being brave and fighting in both great wars. After visiting the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, we went onto the sea front and I went onto the beach. The sea was calm and there wasn't alot of people there. I saw a blackbird looking for something, Just sitting there. When I looked up at my wife, I saw a hole and thought that it would be a nice photo from the other side looking at the Isle of Wight. It turned out I was right. Well, I think I was anyway.
We walked past the Blue Reef Aquarium. I've not been here since I was young. just past the Blue Reef Aquarium is a fish and chip shop. I have no idea what the food is like as I have never brought anything from there, Behind the fish and chip shop is a hill, which leads towards castle field and behind the D-Day museum. Again, looks of history of a time when people went to war for this country. I was nice walking along the wall, where the benches over look the sea toward the Isle of Wright. We got to a break in the wall and decided to go down the stairs. I had a quick look and saw the below image.

I guess the above picture has been taken a hundred times and will continue to be. It is a lovely view and the clouds do look dramatic. After leaving castle field, which looked strange without all the people that would be there in the summer, we went towards Southsea Castle. There is a fountain, which looks lovely and over looks some beautiful flowers when you look north. After we took in the view, we headed back to where we had parked to come home. Overall, it was a lovely walk. Quite full from lunch as well. My wife and I had spoken about things that are to shape our future. We are no nearer to deciding on names but I am sure we will towards the end.
